I’m Vicky McMellon, a Psychology and Social Work graduate and Life Coach.

For over 23 years I worked as a Social Worker helping all kinds of people in all kinds of situations. There’s not a lot I haven’t seen or heard!

While I loved parts of my job as a Social Worker, I always knew something wasn’t quite right and I needed to make a drastic change. It took me years to find out what that ‘something’ was. It then took me more years to find the courage to do what I really wanted to because I mistook fear and doubt as signals to stop.

Through coaching I discovered that fear and doubt can be good signs that can lead to great things if we learn to put them in perspective.

Coaching takes place within an equal relationship in which the coach empowers the client to unlock their potential. It doesn’t require the client to delve deeply into their past painful experiences, as can be the case in counselling. 

Unlike with a mentor, the client is seen as the expert. The coach’s role is to facilitate the client to tap into their own resources to remove obstacles they may not have been able to see before. Coaching is a painless, dare I say enjoyable, way of getting results quickly.

Coaching is not specific to any issue. Most problems are related to the underlying thought or belief that you need help uncovering. We’re all human and we all suffer from varying degrees of stress, anxiety, depression, lack of motivation….the list goes on. That doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you. With coaching you can start to find out what’s underneath these issues and decide if you need or want to do something to change them.
